Printable Iron-on Patch Graduation Stole Tutorial

  1. Print the ASU FIDM Fashion Club image onto iron-on transfer paper. Make sure the image is mirrored when printed.
  2. Make a clean plus sign (+) on the back of the patch that aligns with the direction of the font. Also, make a notch on the back of the patch that indicates the top of the image. This way, you know your patch is facing the right direction on your stole.
  3. Use scissors to cut around the image. Make sure you cut around the black outline of the image.
  4. Place the image on the bottom of the stole or wherever you see fit.
  5. Hold down the iron and press the patch onto the stole with heat and pressure. Check your transfer paper’s instructions for how long to hold down the iron, typically 30 to 45 seconds. Make sure the entire patch is under the iron so all sides transfer onto the stole.
  6. After you’ve applied heat, carefully pull up the paper to reveal the ASU FIDM Fashion Club image. If it hasn’t transferred completely, do not take off the paper — carefully leave it on the stole and apply more heat and pressure with the iron.
  7. You're done! After you've applied the patch, you can decorate your stole however you'd like. We recommend using ribbons, rhinestones, other fabrics or even paint!
